Based on the best-selling novel by Arto Paasilinna's son, Arto Salminen, Varasto is a comedy tinged with black humor that strikes directly at the soul of the Finnish working class. The film tells the story of warehousemen in a hardware store whose everyday lives are filled with petty political manipulation, unauthorized "borrowings" and attempts to survive with as little effort as possible.
Rousku (Kari-Pekka Toivonen) is a pragmatic warehouse worker with a cynical but functional worldview. His best friend is Raninen (Aku Hirviniemi), who is Rousku's complete opposite. When a romance begins to develop in the darkness of the warehouse between Rousku and Karita (Minttu Mustakallio), who works as a salesperson, the deal is done - and then there's the addition of a strict boss and fast-paced side businesses.
