The war is over, but the border demarcation is just beginning.
The film is set in the spring of 1918, when young Captain Carl von Munck is sent to Rajajoki to guard the newly established border between Finland and Soviet Russia. The task is difficult: who is allowed to cross the border, who will be turned away and who will be shot? The film is a fierce depiction of fratricidal hatred, sense of duty and humanity in extreme circumstances.
