Piñero tells the turbulent and passionate biographical story of Miguel Piñero (Benjamin Bratt), whose experimental theater, poetry, and prose shook up American art circles in the 1970s and 80s. The film takes the viewer through Piñero's multifaceted life - from his years in prison at Sing Sing to Tony Award-winning playwright and eventually to a pioneer of rap music and hip-hop.
