The Far Side of the Moon (La face cachée de la lune) is a 2003 gem of Canadian cinema, directed, written and starring the theatrical visionary Robert Lepage. The film is based on Lepage's own acclaimed landmark stage production and won, among other honors, the prestigious FIPRESCI Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival.

The story revolves around two completely different brothers, Philippe and André, following the death of their mother. Philippe is a sensitive, introverted researcher struggling with difficulties, immersed in his dissertation on narcissism and the space race. André, meanwhile, is a superficial, successful and self-absorbed television weatherman. The distance between the brothers and their difficult relationship are mirrored by the Cold War-era space race between the Soviet Union and the United States. The film beautifully explores loneliness, grief and how difficult it can sometimes be for us to understand those closest to us—as if we were looking at the far side of the moon.

In the film, Lepage plays both brothers. Its visual transitions, poetic imagery and cosmic atmosphere make this an exceptional and memorable viewing experience for fans of drama and art-house cinema.
