Passion, power and lost youth under the Haitian sun.
Directed by Laurent Cantet, the drama is set in 1970s Haiti, a crossroads between beautiful beaches and the terrifying dictatorship of Baby Doc Duvalier. The film follows three North American women – the most experienced and cynical of whom is the stunning Charlotte Rampling – who travel to the island in search of vacation, attention and the company of young local men. However, beneath the tropical idyll, deep moral and political tensions are revealed.
