The film tells the story of Steven Russell ( Jim Carrey ), a happily married police officer who, after a car accident, decides to live the rest of his life as a professional con man with a taste for the expensive lifestyle. Russell ends up in prison, where he falls madly in love with Phillip Morris ( Ewan McGregor ). This begins a series of incredible prison escapes and con jobs that Steven pulls just to be near his beloved.
