A story about friendship, memories and a very special dog.
Set in Edwardian London, Dean Spanley is a charming and original tale that begins with the distant relationship between father and son. Fisk Sr. (the legendary Peter O'Toole ) is a rigidly formal and withdrawn man whose son (Jeremy Northam) tries to brighten his father's day by taking him to a lecture on reincarnation.
There they meet the enigmatic clergyman, Dean Spanley ( Sam Neill ). It turns out that Spanley has a peculiar tendency: after enjoying a glass (or two) of rare Imperial Tokay wine, he begins to recall his past lives - specifically, his life as a Welsh terrier. What begins as a strange story grows into a touching journey of forgiveness and a new connection between father and son.
