The film is set on the distant moon of Pandora, where paralyzed former Marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) is given a second chance through the Avatar program. His consciousness is transferred into a genetically engineered Na'vi body so he can infiltrate the local population. However, Jake falls in love with Pandora's wildlife and local Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), forcing him to choose between human military ambitions and the survival of the Na'vi people.
